At Christ Church (Church of England) Federation we provide an engaging, well balanced and inspirational curriculum designed to embed key skills; while bringing learning to life. We ensure children receive a broad and balanced curriculum to provide learning that is relevant, exciting, aspirational and challenging.
When planning our curriculum, staff take into account children’s prior learning and aim to build on current knowledge; providing opportunities for children to question and apply, thus building on their natural curiosity and thirst for learning. Teachers plan highly engaging learning opportunities that are matched to the relative starting points of all pupils. Every child is respected and valued as an individual.
We aim to provide a caring, supportive environment where children are inspired by their learning and empowered to achieve. Furthermore, we hope to develop the pupils’ characters, personalities and life-skills with opportunities across the curriculum to prepare our children for adult life and society.
The curriculum is designed to complement our six Core Values of: Respect, Kindness, Honesty, Love, Friendship and Perseverance. These are taught on their own and through other areas of the curriculum, including worship. The spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of our pupils and their understanding of British Values are woven through the curriculum.
The phonics scheme we use is Read, Write, Inc. All pupils follow this scheme until they are fluent readers.
