COVID Cases in School

Wednesday 22nd September 2021

Dear Parents,

COVID Cases in School

Since the weekend we have had a number of positive COVID cases at both schools involving both staff and children.

Most parents are being very responsible in helping us to control the spread of the virus but we also have a number of parents sending children to school when they are unwell. If your child is unwell please complete a test before sending them to school.

Several of our positive cases have been detected through lateral flow tests when the child or adult has no symptoms at all. Some of these have then tested positive on a PCR and have become quite ill in the days that follow.

As we have an outbreak which affects every class in the Junior school and three year groups at the Infants we are requesting that every child is tested using a lateral flow test as soon as possible. This will help us to isolate any child or adult who is asymptomatic and hopefully reduce the spread.

Moving forward we request that every child is tested before attending school each Monday morning. The test could be completed Sunday evening or Monday morning. We will not ask to see the results but put the trust in parents to act responsibly in the event of a positive result. Please telephone the school office to report a positive result.

Other schools in the city have a similar level of outbreak and consequently the availability of supply staff is becoming increasingly difficult.

We are currently managing to cover staff absences but there may come to a point where it is not safe for us to remain open due to low staff numbers. We need your help to try to keep this outbreak under control.

Keeping our children safe and the school open is our priority.

We would like to thank you for your ongoing support.

Yours sincerely

Mrs S Blower
